Why does my campaign show "No funnel identified"?
Because the destination link of that campaign's ads does not point to a page of one of your funnels — or because the campaign has not been synced since the link changed. Clickmax finds the funnel through the ad's link, as configured on the platform, not through the campaign name. The ad details, under Traffic → Performance, show the link and the tracking the platform appends to it; that is where you see what is missing.
Before you start
- A workspace role that reaches the Traffic area — see Traffic.
- The ad account connected and synced at least once — see How do I connect my ad account to Clickmax?.
- Access to the platform's ads manager (Meta Ads or Google Ads) to edit the ad link.
Step by step
- Go to Traffic → Performance, By Campaign tab, and expand the campaign down to its ads.
- Click an ad row to open its details.
- Under Ad destination, check the link. It must be the URL of a published page in one of your funnels.
- Right below, under Tracking parameters, check what the platform appends to the link on click. The sentence next to Funnel identified tells you whether the tracking is complete.
- If the sentence asks for the id tag, edit the ad in the ads manager and add the parameter:
- Meta Ads — under the ad's URL parameters:
utm_content={{ad.id}}. - Google Ads — under Final URL suffix (ad, ad group or campaign):
utm_content={creative}.
- Meta Ads — under the ad's URL parameters:
- Sync the account (Traffic → Connections → Sync) and go back to By Campaign. The funnel shows up in the campaign's Funnel column.
For the other parameters (source, medium, campaign), see UTMs and funnel traffic tracking.
How the funnel is identified
Clickmax matches the destination link's address against the workspace's published pages:
- A page on a custom domain connected to Clickmax.
- A page on the project's default address (the subdomain named after the project).
- An external page registered in a funnel.
- One of your redirect links pointing to one of those pages.
If the ad link carries the lk parameter of a link from a funnel's Traffic sources card — pasted straight into the link, into the URL parameters or inside the source's custom link —, the funnel comes from that source, even when the destination is not a registered page.
The URL path must match the page's; a leading www. and anything after ? are ignored. A deleted page stops being identified, even if the ad still points to it.
Campaigns and ad sets have no link of their own: they inherit the funnel of most of their ads. A Google Performance Max campaign has no ad level, so it never gets a funnel.
What each message means
In the ad details, next to Funnel identified:
Link the ad to the funnel's traffic source
The funnel Analytics counts the clicks of each link in the Traffic sources card by the link's lk parameter — not by the domain or the UTMs. An ad that lands on the right page without that parameter spends without showing up in the source card.
In the ad details, right below the identified funnel:
- Traffic source: ·
— the ad link already carries the lkof that source link; its clicks show up there. - The link does not use any traffic source of the funnel — the funnel has a traffic source, but the ad uses none of its links. The list shows the suggested links — the ones from the source connected to the destination page and, among them, the ones for the ad's platform (Facebook and Instagram for Meta, YouTube for Google). Copy the
lk=…parameter of one of them and add it to URL parameters (Meta) or Final URL suffix (Google), next to the ones already there.
The suggestion follows the funnel card right away; the funnel stored on the campaign only changes on the next sync.
The reverse view lives in the funnel itself: in analytics mode, each link in the Traffic sources card shows how much the ads using that link spent — see Where do I see the results of my traffic links?.
To create the source link, see How do I get the link for a traffic source in the funnel?.
In the By Campaign table, the Incomplete tracking warning icon next to the funnel name summarizes the two middle cases.
If it did not work
- Fixed the link and the campaign still has no funnel? The change only lands on the next sync — see How do I sync or review a single ad account?.
- The link is right but the page is not recognized? Confirm the page is published and its domain is connected to Clickmax.
- The By Funnel tab is empty, titled No campaign is linked to a funnel? There are imported campaigns, but none has its destination funnel identified — the link needs tagging, as in the steps above. The See in Data health button takes you to the tab that measures how many campaigns are already linked. If the tab shows No funnels in this selection, there are linked campaigns, but none has spend in the selected period, platform or project: adjust the filters at the top.
- The By Funnel report shows as Partial? See How do I know my ad data is up to date?.
