      • How to change the order of pipeline stages

      Stages start out in the order you created them. When that order stops matching your funnel — a capture stage sitting after a payment one, for example — you don't have to delete and recreate anything: drag the stage by its handle in the pipeline settings.

      Reordering moves no opportunity at all. Every card stays in the stage it was in; only the columns swap places on the board.

      Before you start

      • Workspace role: you need permission to configure pipelines. Without it the Edit settings button doesn't even show up. See what each role covers in the permissions table.
      • You need a pipeline with at least two stages. If you don't have one yet, start with Build your first pipeline.

      Steps

      1. Open the pipeline in the opportunities board.
      2. At the top of the screen, click Edit settings.
      3. In the Pipeline Settings side menu, stay on Stages — it's the section that opens by default.
      4. In the stage list, grab the handle to the left of the stage name and drag it up or down. The list rearranges as you drag.
      5. Click Save settings.

      The new order applies from then on: back on the board, the columns already follow the sequence you built, with no page reload.

      Reorder with the keyboard

      The handle also works without a mouse:

      1. Press Tab until you reach the handle of the stage you want to move.
      2. Press Space to pick the stage up.
      3. Use the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to move it through the list.
      4. Press Space again to drop it — or Esc to cancel and send the stage back where it started.

      Every move is announced to screen readers with the stage name and the position it landed in.

      Nothing is saved before you save

      The order you build by dragging lives on screen only until you click Save settings — the same as renaming, adding, and deleting a stage in that section.

      • Cancel discards the new order along with any other pending changes and puts the list back to what is saved.
      • Closing the window without saving does the same.

      While creating the pipeline

      The same handle shows up in the Configure Stages step of Create pipeline. There, the order you build is the order the board is born with — there is nothing separate to save.

      If it didn't work

      • I can't find the handle: it lives in the stage list inside the Stages section. If the window opened on another section, click Stages in the side menu.
      • I dragged, but the stage snapped back: you dropped it outside the list. Drop the stage over the position you want, between the other stages.
      • I saved and the old order came back: the save failed and the list was reloaded with what is stored on the server. Read the error message and check the error codes.
      • The Edit settings button doesn't appear: your role doesn't include pipeline management. See what to do without permission.
