  • English
  • Connect a domain you already own

If the domain is already registered with an external provider (Registro.br, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Hostinger and the like), you do not need to transfer it. You just point it at Clickmax.

    Before you start

    • Role: workspace Owner or Admin.
    • You need access to the DNS panel of the provider where the domain is registered.

    1. Add the domain in Clickmax

    1. Open Domains and add a domain.
    2. Under the external domain option, fill in the subdomain and domain. In www.mysite.com, www is the subdomain and mysite.com is the domain.
    3. Save it.

Once you confirm, a window opens right away to set up the DNS automatically at your provider. On the new version, when you close that window the domain's details screen opens, already showing the DNS records section. Visitors can only reach the domain once the DNS is set up (step 2).

The field takes the domain only, not a page address

The most common mistake is pasting a full page address (https://mysite.com/promo). The field accepts the domain only — no https://, no slashes and no parameters. If what you typed is not accepted, the save button does not move forward and a message appears under the field telling you what to fix:

    What you typedMessageWhat to do
    https://mysite.comRemove the "https://" and enter only the domain. E.g. mysite.comDelete the https://
mysite.com/promoRemove the slash (/) and everything after it. Connect the domain itself, not a page address. E.g. mysite.comDelete the slash and what follows
mysite.com?utm_source=igRemove the "?" and "#" and everything after them. E.g. mysite.comDelete the ? and what follows
mysiteThe domain extension is missing, such as .com or .co.uk. E.g. mysite.comAdd the extension
my_site.comThe domain accepts only letters, numbers, hyphens and dots. E.g. mysite.comReplace the unsupported character
Subdomain app.betaThe subdomain accepts only letters, numbers and hyphens, no dots. E.g. wwwUse a subdomain with no dot

    2. Point the DNS at your provider

What to set up depends on the domain's version. Open the domain's details with the pencil on its row in the list:

    • The screen has a DNS records section → the domain is on the new version. Follow New version.
    • The screen has no such section → the domain is on the previous version. Follow Previous version.

New version: screen with DNS records

On the new version, one record is enough: the domain's CNAME pointing to Clickmax. With the CNAME right, confirming the domain is yours and issuing the security certificate (HTTPS) happen on their own.

The fastest way is to click Set up automatically: it opens the window where you sign in to your provider's account and the record is created for you. It works with supported providers. If yours is not supported, create the record by hand in your provider's panel:

    TypeNameValueWhat it is for
CNAMEWhat comes before the domain, for example www for www.mystore.comdomains.clickmax.spaceSends visitors to Clickmax.
    • Copy the Name and Value with the copy buttons on screen. The Name already comes the way most providers ask for it: only what comes before the domain, since the provider fills in the rest.
    • If your provider asks for the full name, use the one shown right below the record, for example www.mystore.com.
    • A domain without www (a root domain, such as mystore.com) only works if your provider accepts a CNAME at the root, a feature also called ALIAS, ANAME or CNAME flattening. If yours does not, use www.
    • A domain that came from the previous version through the migration also shows TXT records. That case is covered in how to migrate the domain to the new version.

The record shows Verified or Pending, and the Domain confirmed, Certificate active and CNAME pointing to Clickmax badges turn green as each part is confirmed. Next to the title, a count shows how many are confirmed, for example 2 of 3 confirmed.

Once the record is in place, click Recheck. The platform keeps checking the DNS for about an hour. If it does not find the record in that time, the domain goes back to Disconnected and you can click Recheck again.

The status shows where the domain stands:

    StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
DisconnectedThe record has not been found yet.Create the CNAME and click Recheck.
ConnectingWaiting for the DNS records to confirm the domain is yours.Check the CNAME and wait.
SecuringDomain confirmed. The security certificate still has to become active, or the CNAME still has to point to Clickmax. With all three badges green, only the confirmation that the site answers is left, which takes a few minutes.Check the CNAME and click Recheck later.
ConnectedAll set: the domain is already serving pages.Go to step 3.

When the domain connects, you get the Domain connected! notification.

Previous version: screen without DNS records

While the domain is Disconnected, click Connect on its details. A window helps you set up the DNS at your provider.

If you would rather set it up by hand, create a record in your provider's panel:

    FieldValue
    TypeCNAME
Host / Namewww (or whichever subdomain you chose)
    Points toentri-domains.clickmax.space

Save and wait. Propagation can take up to 48 hours, though it is usually much faster.

To move a domain from the previous version to the new one without taking the site down, see how to migrate the domain to the new version.

While the domain is not attached to a project it shows as No project. Once connected, choose it on the funnel under its settings. Every page in the funnel then uses that address, and an individual page can override it in its own settings.

    If it didn't work

    • Still Connecting or Securing: re-check the CNAME at your provider (name and value exactly as on screen), and look for an older conflicting record on the same host — see my domain does not open.
    • Back to Disconnected after Recheck: the platform did not find the record within about an hour. Check it and click Recheck again.
    • The provider refuses the record or blocks the domain: check with the provider directly.
    • The domain is already in use on the platform: a domain can only be active on one account at a time.
