How do I check the content of a live automation without duplicating it?
Click the step card, just as you would in a draft automation: in a live automation the step opens in read-only mode. You can see the message you wrote, the button link, the applied tag and the rest of the setup — without pausing the automation and without duplicating it just to take a look.
Role: any member with access to the workspace.
Steps
- Open the live automation.
- On the canvas, click the card of the step you want to check: message (WhatsApp, email, Telegram, SMS, voice, Instagram), action, condition, router, randomizer, block group, timer and integration.
- The step screen opens with all its content, and a banner at the top saying This flow is live — you are viewing its content in read-only mode.
- Check what you needed and close the screen.
What read-only mode guarantees
Nothing you do on that screen is saved. Even if a field accepts typing, the automation's content does not change and nothing is sent — the live automation stays exactly as it was.
That is why there is no save button in this mode: the screen is for viewing only.
To actually edit it
The path is still the same, and the banner itself is a reminder of it:
- Pause the automation.
- Make your changes.
- Resume the automation.
Pausing exists because an automation has a single version: a change made while it is live would take effect immediately, for the contacts already inside the flow, with no way back.
The trigger card is the exception
The trigger card still does not open while the automation is live — its setup is what decides who enters the flow, and it is where an accidental change would have the widest effect. To check it, pause the automation.
Where else read-only mode shows up
The same banner and behaviour apply to archived automations, templates and automations shared by another account — all open for viewing and none accept edits.
