How do I ask Max to research something on the internet?
Ask in the chat what you want to find out, for example "research how much online baking courses charge". When the answer depends on information from outside your Clickmax account, Max searches the internet and answers citing the links it used.
Before you start:
- Role: any workspace role that can open Max can ask for research.
- Research covers public topics. Max reads your account data (sales, contacts, funnels) straight from Clickmax, without going to the internet.
1. Say what you want to find out
It works best for:
- competitors and similar offers in your niche, and the prices they charge;
- pains, objections and terms your audience uses, to back a page, an email or a campaign;
- dates, trends and news in your market;
- current rules of other platforms, such as Meta, WhatsApp and Google;
- your brand's public presence: give the name or the website address.
You can ask for the research on its own ("what are the main objections of people buying an English course?") or together with the task ("research the competitors and then write the sales page copy").
2. Check the sources
Each piece of information that came from the internet shows a site badge right after the sentence (for example g1.globo.com). Click the badge to open the page.
At the end of the answer, the N sources button shows the full list of pages Max checked, with each one's logo, site name, title and summary:
- On the Max screen in a wide window, sources open in a panel to the right of the conversation. Use the arrows button in the top-right corner (Expand panel) to open and close the panel whenever you want.
- In the floating Max panel and on mobile, sources open in a drawer over the conversation.
The search brings each page's title and a short summary, not its full text. Before deciding something important, open the link and check, or ask Max to read the whole page.
Read a page or look at a site
Give the address in your request, for example "read https://example.com/pricing and summarize the plans" or "use the site example.com as a reference". Max opens the page in a browser, so sites that load their content with JavaScript work too. It can:
- read the page's text, headings, links and image addresses;
- take a screenshot to see the layout, colors, fonts and images, of the first screen or the whole page.
This works in any conversation, including Max Design's design mode, where the site becomes a reference for your page (see Recreate from a reference site). Max opens the pages you named or the ones it found in the search.
A screenshot is only visible to Max in the reply where it took it. If you want it to look at the site again in a later message, ask: it takes a new screenshot.
Limits
- Each Max reply runs at most 5 searches, with up to 5 results per search. To go deeper, ask Max to continue the research in a new message.
- Each reply opens at most 8 pages, counting reads and screenshots together. For more pages, ask Max to continue in a new message.
- Public addresses only: pages behind a login or on an internal network do not open. For Clickmax screens, Max reads the data straight from your account.
- Very long pages reach Max cut off. If the part that matters is at the end, give the address of that part or tell Max what to look for.
- A very tall page may not fit in a single full-page screenshot. In that case Max captures the first screen.
- Max does not put your contacts' personal data (name, email, phone, tax ID) in searches. It searches by topic, niche or brand.

If it didn't work
- Max answered without researching: ask explicitly ("search the internet for…"). For general knowledge it already has, it answers directly.
- Max said the web search failed: the reply continues with what it already knows. Try again in a few minutes.
- The results don't match what you wanted: give more context (niche, country, product) and ask it to redo the research.
- Max said it couldn't open the page: check that the address opens in a private window, without logging in. If the site took too long to load, try again in a few minutes.
- Max said it reached the page limit for the reply: it answers with what it already read. Ask it to continue in a new message.
