  • How do I link an object to contacts, opportunities and other objects?

Open the object in CRM settings → Objects, go to the Relations tab and click New relation. A relation says that a record of your object is connected to another record — a property's owner (a contact), the property being negotiated in an opportunity, a property's condominium (another object).

    Before you start

    Create the relation

    1. Choose the other side: Contacts, Opportunities, Companies or another object of the account (including the object itself, to link property to property).
    2. Choose how many records fit on each side:
    OptionExample
Each record has one on the other side; the other side can have manyEach property has one owner; a contact can own many properties.
Each record has many on the other side; each of those has only oneA property has many opportunities; each opportunity negotiates a single property.
Many on both sidesA property has many interested contacts; a contact is interested in many properties.
    1. Give the relation a name on each sheet. E.g. Owner on the property's sheet and Properties on the contact's sheet. The one-sentence summary confirms what you built.
    2. If the other side is Opportunities, turn on Show on the opportunity card to show the linked record as a badge on the pipeline card.
    3. Click Create relation.

Two equal names on the same sheet aren't accepted: if the contact already has "Properties" from another relation, name this one differently (e.g. "Properties of interest").

    Edit or delete

In each relation's menu, Edit changes the names and the card badge. How many records fit on each side can only change while the relation has no links. Delete removes the relation and all its links on both sides — it can't be undone.

Relations that already exist between contacts, opportunities and companies belong to the system and don't show here.

    Where the relation shows up

    • On each record's sheet, in a section named after the relation.
    • On the contact's, opportunity's or company's sheet, in a section with the other side's name (e.g. Properties of interest), with the button to link records.
    • As a filter in the object's listing and in the contacts filter. See How do I filter contacts by the records linked to them?.
