      • Draw the owner at random from agents you pick

      In the stage Assignment automation, Random mode draws an owner for each opportunity that enters the stage, from the agents you select. Use it to split cards among a specific group of people without building a team and without a predictable order.

      Before you start

      • Workspace role: owner, admin, or an agent with the coordinator subrole. Without it the automations screen is read-only. See what each role can do in the permissions table.
      • You need a pipeline with at least one stage, and agents already registered. If you don't have the pipeline yet, start with Build your first pipeline.

      Steps

      1. Open the pipeline and, on the stage that will distribute the cards, click Create automation.
      2. In the Type step, choose Assignment and click Continue.
      3. Under How to assign, pick the Random card.
      4. In Draw participants, select who will receive the cards. Pick at least two people — with a single one, every card always lands on them.
      5. Click Save.

      From now on, every opportunity entering that stage gets an owner drawn from the selected agents. Cards already sitting in the stage are not redistributed.

      The three assignment modes

      Each draw is independent: it does not balance load and does not respect the temperature cap — if you need that, use Round-robin. In exchange, Random requires no team and no temperature rule.

      Who drops out of the draw automatically

      The participant list is stored on the automation, but the draw checks each person's status at the moment the card enters. These drop out without you editing the automation:

      • anyone deactivated or removed from the account;
      • anyone who lost operational access to the workspace.

      If nobody on the list is available anymore, the opportunity enters the stage with no owner — and stays visible to whoever has full pipeline visibility. Assign it manually, or edit the automation to include other people.

      Replacing or removing the automation

      Each stage has one Assignment automation. When you open the tab with one already active, the card at the top shows which it is — configuring and saving again replaces it. To turn it off without losing the setup, use Deactivate; to delete it, Remove.

      If it didn't work

      • Save says you must select someone: Random mode requires at least one participant — an automation with nobody selected would run on every card and never assign anyone.
      • Cards keep entering with no owner: check that the selected people are still active in the account. See Why the card has no owner.
