  • How do I use several videos in a webinar and set their order?

The builder Video step holds a video collection, not a single link. The list order is the room's script: video 1 opens the session and, when it ends, the room moves on to 2, and so on. In the control room, the same list becomes the set of videos you release to everyone at any time, out of order if you want.

Role: any member with access to the workspace.

    Add a video

    1. Open the webinar, go to Settings and click the Video step.
    2. Under Webinar videos, click Add video.
    3. Choose how the video comes in:
      • Upload: drag the file or click to choose one. The modal closes right away and the video shows up in the list with the upload progress. After the upload it stays Processing for a few minutes and switches to ready on its own, no page reload needed. Keep the tab open until the upload finishes: you can keep configuring the webinar while the file uploads.
      • Paste a link: paste a YouTube, Vimeo or .mp4 file link. The platform is detected from the link. Fill in the duration in minutes if you want the room to move on to the next video after this one.
      • Drive: pick one or more videos already in the workspace Drive. Check the videos in the list (search filters by name) and click Add. The number next to each checked video is the order it joins the collection. Only videos from Drive spaces you can see are listed.
    4. The new video goes to the end of the list.

    Videos from Drive

    • The video is copied to the webinar player. The file in Drive stays as is: renaming, moving or deleting it later doesn't affect the video in the collection.
    • Once added, the video shows Processing for a few minutes, just like an upload, and its duration fills in on its own. You can close the tab: the copy doesn't depend on your browser.
    • Need to upload the video first? Click Open Drive: it opens in another tab and, when you come back, the list already shows the new file.
    • The list shows the 200 most recent videos. Search by name to find an older one.

You can also add videos straight from the New session modal, in the + square under Backup videos (see How do I manage a webinar's sessions?).

    Change the order

Drag the video by the handle on the left (the six dots) to its new position. The order is saved right away.

The video in position 1 is tagged Opens the session: it is also the webinar cover when you haven't uploaded your own, and it is the video used by the replay on the closing page.

Remove a video from the collection

Click the trash icon next to the video. The list closes the gap and the next videos move up one position. If you remove video 1, video 2 opens the session.

How the room chains the videos

    • The room counts the session time end to end. Scripted chat, offer, audience and sales notifications follow that total time, not each video's time.
    • The room only knows when to move on if it knows how long the current video lasts. Uploaded videos get their duration automatically. For links, fill in the duration when adding.
    • If a video in the list has no duration, the room plays the sequence up to it and stays on it. The videos after it are still available to release from the control room. A note under the list shows which video is holding the sequence.
    • When every video has a duration, the session ends when the last one ends. The total script duration shows under the list.
    • A video still Processing is skipped by the room until it is ready.

    Let attendees pause

Under Room playback, right below the collection, Allow pausing adds a pause button to the corner of the room video. It is on by default. Turn it off so the room has no way to pause.

    • While paused, the video freezes and the STREAMING badge turns grey.
    • Play or a tap on the video resume from where the attendee stopped. The badge stays grey while they are behind the session.
    • Clicking the grey badge takes the attendee to the session's current point.
    • Scripted chat, offers, reactions, audience and the next video follow the attendee's video. While paused, the chat stops too. When behind, messages and offers show up at the same point of the video as for someone who never paused.
    • Real chat messages and anything you release from the control room reach everyone right away, even those who are behind.
    • YouTube, Vimeo and videos uploaded to the collection resume from the same point. Videos from other providers have no pause button.
    • During a video released from the control room or a live broadcast, this button doesn't show. The live broadcast has its own pause.

    Use a live recording

After a live broadcast ends, the recording shows up under Live recordings, in the same step. Click Use this video to put it in position 1 of the collection. The other videos stay in the list, right behind it.

If something doesn't work as expected

    • The video is stuck on "Uploading": the upload was interrupted (for example, the tab was closed or the connection dropped). Remove the video from the collection and upload it again.
    • A "Could not upload the video" notice appears: the connection failed during the upload. Remove the video from the collection and upload it again; if the notice carries a specific message, follow what it says.
    • The video shows "Failed": the file could not be processed. Remove it and upload another file (MP4, MOV or WebM).
    • The room didn't move on to the next video: check that the current video has a duration in the list. Without it, the room stays on it.
    • "The collection accepts up to 20 videos": remove a video before adding another one. In Drive, selection locks once you've checked as many as still fit in the collection.
    • My Drive video isn't listed: check that the file is a video, that its upload to Drive finished and that it's in a space you can see (your My drive, a team space you were added to, or Platform). Files shared only with you outside those spaces aren't listed: move the file to a team space.
    • "Couldn't import" when adding from Drive: the other checked videos are added normally. The one that failed shows as Failed in the list: remove it from the collection and add it again.
