  • English
  • If I switch between task and appointment, do I lose what I filled in?

No. When you create an item and switch the type between Task, Call, WhatsApp and Agenda, whatever you already filled in comes along to the new form — the opportunity included.

    Before you start

    • Role: anyone with CRM access creates tasks and appointments within their attendance scope. See what each role reaches in the permissions table.
    • The type selector shows up when you create the item from the Tasks menu. Opening it from inside an opportunity, the item is already tied to that one.

    What carries over

    FieldCarries over
    OpportunityYes
    ContactYes
    Title / subjectYes
    Date and timeYes
    NotesYes
Task attachmentNo — an appointment has no attachment
Agenda, duration and meeting linkNo — a task has no such fields

Fields that do not exist on both sides stay behind because there is nowhere to put them. Everything the two forms share stays filled in.

    The opportunity stays editable

After the switch the opportunity comes filled in but is not locked — you can still pick a different one. That differs from creating the item from inside an opportunity: there it shows as a fixed chip, because you chose to create it in that specific place.

    If it did not work

    • The opportunity field came up empty after the switch: you most likely had not picked one before switching type — the switch carries what was filled in, it does not guess.
    • The opportunity shows as a fixed chip and you want a different one: close the window and create the item from the Tasks menu instead of from the opportunity card.
