How do I connect my ad account to Clickmax?
Go to Traffic → Connections and click Connect account. Pick Meta Ads or Google Ads, authorize the access on the platform itself, and Clickmax starts importing your campaign spend.
The connection uses OAuth 2.0. Clickmax reads campaigns and spend, and only creates something when you ask: a post in Posts or a boost. It never changes campaigns you created outside Clickmax.
Before you start
- A workspace role that reaches the Traffic area — see Traffic.
- Whoever authorizes needs access to that ad account on the platform itself. Clickmax sees exactly what they see, nothing more.
- The area is still rolling out. If Traffic does not show up in your menu, contact support.
Step by step
- Go to Traffic and click Accounts.
- Click Connect account.
- Pick the platform and click Connect. You leave Clickmax and land on the platform's authorization screen.
- Sign in with the account that has access to the ads and confirm the permissions.
- You come back to the same Clickmax screen, with the outcome at the top.
What happens next depends on how many accounts your authorization reaches:
- Up to 10 accounts — they all start syncing right away, and the first import begins within seconds.
- More than 10 accounts — they all show up in the list, but none starts syncing. That is deliberate: an agency authorization can reveal dozens of accounts, and importing all of them would burn the platform's query limit on data nobody asked for.
Choosing which accounts to sync
Under Traffic → Connections, click View details on the account you want and turn on the Sync switch — that account's first import starts within seconds, without waiting for the daily run. Only accounts with that switch on feed the Ads dashboard. To force an import for a single account, see How do I sync or review a single ad account?.
The first import brings the last 90 days. After that, each run rewrites the last 28 days — that is the window in which the platforms still adjust past numbers, so recent history keeps correcting itself.
Pages and Instagram profiles
When you connect Meta Ads, Clickmax also lists the Facebook Pages your authorization reaches and the Instagram profile linked to each one. They show up under Traffic → Connections, in the Pages and Instagram profiles section, right below the ad accounts.
Each Page shows what prevents publishing through it:
- No Instagram linked — the Page has no Instagram professional profile linked to it. Link the profile to the Page on Meta itself.
- No permission to publish — whoever connected Meta has no permission to create content on that Page. Ask a Page admin for that permission, or reconnect with someone who already has it.
- Authorization expired or Disconnected — the Meta authorization expired or no longer reaches that Page. Click Reconnect next to the Page and, on the Meta screen, select the Page and its Instagram account.
Linked Instagram to the Page, or got access to a new Page, after connecting? Click Refresh Pages: Clickmax looks again without you redoing the authorization. A Page that still does not show up was not included in the authorization — reconnect Meta and check that Page on the permissions screen.
Where connections live
Everything a connection brings lives under Traffic → Connections, in tabs: Ad accounts, Pages and Instagram, Pixels and Data health.
On Ad accounts, accounts are grouped by the authorization that syncs them. Each group's header says who authorized it, how many accounts and Pages it reaches, when it expires and, when relevant, how many permissions are missing. If the authorization stopped working or is missing permissions, the Reconnect button is right there.
An ad account and a Page aren't linked directly: both come from the same authorization. They only cross when you boost a Page post paying with the account. Each one's details show this in the Where it comes from and what it feeds block:
- On the ad account: the authorization, the campaigns, how many are linked to a funnel, the posts it boosted and the Pages in the same authorization.
- On the Page: the authorization, the posts, the accounts that paid for boosts, the lead forms and the leads from the last 7 days. Below, What you can do with this Page says whether you can post on Facebook and Instagram, receive leads and see post metrics, and what's missing when you can't.
Each item in the block opens the screen with the full list.
What differs between Meta Ads and Google Ads
Performance Max campaigns
Google does not expose the ads inside a Performance Max campaign. On the By Campaign tab, those campaigns carry the No ad-level detail badge and do not expand.
Their spend is correct and counts toward every total — what does not exist is the creative ranking inside the campaign. It is neither missing data nor a broken sync.
Reconnecting or disconnecting
Reconnecting is the same path as connecting: Connect account again, same platform. The account keeps all the history already imported and goes back to updating.
On the account detail, the Reconnect button shows up when the authorization stopped working or is missing permissions. It opens the same Connect account screen.
Accounts connected before Clickmax asked for more permissions show the Permissions missing from this authorization notice, listing what is missing. Spend sync keeps working, but publishing posts, receiving leads and post metrics depend on those permissions. Reconnect and confirm all of them on the Meta screen.
To stop importing, open the account detail and click Disconnect. The account stops syncing and the history already imported is preserved — the connection can be redone at any time. Disconnecting an ad account does not turn off the Pages and Instagram accounts from the same authorization: they stay available for publishing.
Disconnecting Meta for good
To drop Meta entirely, click Disconnect Meta at the top of Traffic → Connections and confirm. Clickmax:
- revokes the permissions Clickmax Ads has on Meta, for every authorization in the workspace;
- deletes the stored access (the token) of the connection;
- turns off the ad accounts, Pages, Instagram accounts and pixel event sending that depended on it.
Campaigns, metrics, posts and leads already imported stay in the workspace. If Meta does not confirm the revocation (for example, when the authorization already expired), Clickmax deletes the access on its side anyway and tells you: in that case, also remove Clickmax from Facebook, as shown below.
An authorization that ends for any reason — disconnecting, reconnecting as someone else or Meta revoking it — no longer keeps the token stored.
Permissions Clickmax asks Meta for
Clickmax only reaches the ad accounts, Pages and Instagram accounts you select on Meta's authorization screen. The same list shows up in the Connect ad account window before you go to Meta.
Meta access expires in two ways: the token lasts about 60 days, and access to your data stops after about 90 days without using the app. Clickmax warns you in the bell for whichever comes first. Reconnecting renews both.
Removing Clickmax from Facebook and deleting your data
On Meta's side, open Facebook → Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations, choose Clickmax Ads and click Remove. When you remove it:
- Clickmax revokes the authorization in every workspace where you connected and stops syncing.
- If you request data deletion on the same screen, Clickmax deletes the access token, the granted permissions and your Facebook identifier stored with the connection, and shows a confirmation code.
- Campaigns, metrics, published posts and imported leads stay in the workspace: they belong to the business that connected, not to the person who authorized. To delete them, contact support.
If it did not work
- "You cancelled the authorization." Someone closed or declined the platform screen. Start over.
- "The connection request expired." The return path is short-lived. Click Connect account again and finish without stopping halfway.
- "We could not complete the connection." Try once more. If it repeats, check that the person who authorized has access to the ad account on the platform.
- I connected and the list is empty. The authorization came from an account that reaches no ad accounts. On Google, check that it has access to the right manager account; on Meta, to the right Business Manager.
- The account shows Authorization expired or No access. Reconnect it. On Meta that is expected every 60 days; on Google it means someone removed Clickmax's access from the Google side.
- Last error "Não foi possível ler a autorização guardada" (the stored authorization could not be read). The stored authorization can no longer be used, and the account moves to Authorization expired. Click Reconnect on the account detail.
- Boosting failed saying a payment method is missing. Add a card or another payment method to the ad account in Meta's Ads Manager and boost again. Clickmax tries to delete the campaign that was left half-created; if it is still there, delete it in Ads Manager.
- I connected but the dashboard is still empty. Check the Sync switch in the account detail and follow the first import under Data health.
