      • Why do I see "You have unsaved changes" when leaving a step?

      Because you edited the step's content and tried to leave through a route that discards what you typed. The warning exists so the text does not disappear without you noticing.

      When the warning appears

      When you edit a step's content and then use one of these exits:

      • the ← Go back arrow, at the top of the screen;
      • the ✕, at the top of the screen;
      • the Cancel button.

      All three discard the edit — including the ← Go back arrow, which looks like navigation but saves nothing.

      To keep what you wrote, close it with the Save button instead of any of the exits above.

      When the warning does not appear

      If you have not changed anything since opening the step, the exits close the screen straight away — there is nothing to lose.

      Saving the step is not the same as saving the automation

      The step's Save button writes the content into the automation you have open. In a paused automation, saving to the server is still explicit: use the automation's Save at the top of the screen to publish your changes.

      In draft automations this happens on its own, with no clicking needed.
