Can I create a task for a contact without an opportunity?
Yes, when you create the task from the Lead Cockpit (the side panel of the conversation in Support).
- Open the contact's conversation and, in the Cockpit, click + in the Tasks section.
- In Link to, choose one of the contact's opportunities or No opportunity. If the contact has an open opportunity, it comes preselected.
- Fill in the title and due date and save.
The task belongs to the contact: it shows in their task list and in the agenda. When you complete it, the record goes to the contact's timeline.
Where an opportunity is still required
- In Support › Tasks and on the opportunity board, the task still starts from an opportunity.
- A task with an automatic message (follow-up) requires an opportunity, even in the Cockpit.
If it didn't work
- "Link to" is still required: you opened the modal outside the Cockpit. Use the + in Tasks on the contact's conversation.
- A task without an opportunity doesn't show for an attendant with restricted access: with no owner set, only people with broad access see it. Pick the owner when creating it.
