How do I ask my AI to build an Insights dashboard?
An assistant connected over MCP builds your Insights dashboards for you: it reads the catalogue of available templates and metrics, creates the dashboard and adjusts it widget by widget. You review the finished result under Insights, in the sales menu.
Before you start
- Your AI must be connected — see connect your AI to Clickmax.
- The assistant acts with your role: if you cannot see Insights, neither can it — see roles and permissions.
1. Ask for a template, not widget by widget
The fastest path is to start from one of the ready-made templates — the same ones behind the Add new dashboard button:
Available templates: Sales Command, Closing & Revenue, Win/Loss & Reasons, Pipeline & Hygiene, Acquisition & Channels, Prospecting Cadence, Sales Overview, Team Performance, Funnel & Conversion, Revenue & Products, Lead Acquisition and Activities & Follow-up.
The dashboard is created with the template widgets already configured and no filter applied.
2. Or describe what you want to see
If no template fits, ask for a blank one and describe the metrics. The assistant checks the catalogue before building, so it picks from the metrics that exist instead of inventing them:
Metrics are a closed catalogue, not free text. If the assistant gets a metric name wrong, ask it to "list the available metrics before building".
3. Adjust afterwards
Once the dashboard exists, ask for targeted changes — each one touches only that widget:
4. Ask for the numbers, not just the board
The assistant also reads the dashboard results and answers with the values, without you opening the screen:
Limits
- 25 dashboards per workspace. Past that, the assistant gets the same warning as the interface: You have reached the limit of 25 dashboards. Delete one before creating another.
- 10 widgets per dashboard.
- The filter belongs to the whole dashboard, not to a widget: when you ask for a filter, it applies to every widget at once.

If it did not work
- The assistant says it could not find the metric: ask it to list the catalogue and pick the closest one.
- One widget shows zeros while the others have data: ask the assistant whether that widget failed or simply found nothing — it can tell the two apart. If it failed, swap it for one from the catalogue.
- A filter does not change a widget: not every filter applies to every metric (a period means nothing to "overdue activities", which is always a snapshot of right now). The card warns underneath when it dropped a filter — no warning and no change means that cut genuinely does not affect the result.
- The advanced filter (the condition one, such as pipeline or temperature) speaks the deal vocabulary, so it applies to deal and activity widgets. On lead widgets it does not: a lead exists before it becomes a deal, and cutting it by deal criteria would change the metric instead of filtering it. Those cards show the "does not apply to this metric" warning.
- It creates nothing: check the 25-dashboard limit and your role under no permission.
