How do I put the checkout on a page hosted elsewhere?
When a funnel step is a page you host, Clickmax cannot insert the checkout for you — you are the one who edits that HTML. The panel hands you a ready-made snippet to paste, and from then on the step behaves like any other in the funnel.
Changing the product later is done in the panel. You do not have to touch the site again.
Before you start
- Role: Owner, Admin or Editor.
- Access to the page's HTML so you can paste the snippet and publish.
- The Clickmax script already installed on the page. If it is not, start with using Clickmax with a page hosted elsewhere — without it the checkout will not move the visitor to the next step.
- The step has to be of type checkout, upsell or downsell.
1. Pick the step's offer
On the step card, click Configure Offers and select the main offer. Add order bumps if you want them.
That choice defines what the checkout charges. Because it is stored on the step, changing the offer here changes what your site shows without any edit to the HTML.
2. Open the Checkout step
The card shows the warning "Remember to add the checkout to your external page". Click it.
You can also get there through the Configure external page button on the card, then the 4. Checkout tab.
3. Copy and paste the snippet
Copy the snippet and paste it into your page's HTML, at the spot where the checkout should appear — usually where a buy button sits today.
If you use an AI assistant to edit the site, the AI Prompt button hands you the same thing already phrased as an instruction.
Paste the whole snippet, without splitting it up. It loads the checkout and adjusts the height as the buyer moves through the steps — without that, the checkout shows up cut off.
4. Publish and confirm
Publish the change on your site and confirm the checkout renders for visitors.
Back in Clickmax, click I added it, check now. Your page opens in another tab and Clickmax checks on its own whether the checkout is there. Once it finds it, the card's warning becomes "External checkout detected".
There is no manual mark-as-done: confirmation always comes from that check. If you remove the snippet from the site later, the warning returns on the next check.
5. Connect the next step
After the check succeeds, the step offers the purchase triggers — Purchase Confirmed, Purchase Declined, Pix Generated, Boleto Generated, among others.
Connect each one to the step that should receive the buyer. That is how the funnel sends buyers to the upsell and decliners to the downsell.

If it did not work
- The checkout shows up cut off: the final part of the snippet is missing — that is what adjusts the height. Paste the whole snippet again.
- The check does not find the checkout: confirm you published the change and that the Clickmax script loads on that same page. The check depends on it.
- Purchase triggers do not appear on the step: they are only unlocked after a successful check.
- The buyer pays and does not move on: the Clickmax script has to be on the page that holds the checkout, not only on the others.
- You changed the offer and the site still shows the old one: reload the page without cache. The snippet does not store the offer, so it does not need to be swapped. If the old one persists, reopen Configure Offers on the step and pick the offer again.
- The checkout says there is no product set up: the offer picked on the step was deleted. Pick another one in Configure Offers — the checkout will not substitute one on its own, so the buyer is never charged for an offer you did not select.
