  • How do I track a campaign from the ad to the sale?

Complete tracking answers one question: which ad produced that order? Four pieces have to line up for that — and the order matters, because each depends on the one before it.

    Before you start

    • Role: Owner, Admin or Editor.
    • Have the funnel published and the checkout working — tracking a broken flow only multiplies the problem.
    • Tracking does not run in the editor preview. Every check has to happen on the published page.

    1. Register the Pixel and choose where it tracks

Register the pixel once under Traffic › Pixel and tracking, entering the Pixel ID. Then open the screen you want to track and check the pixel inside it: under Funnel settings → Tracking, the Pixels tracking this funnel block covers every page in that funnel, including ones you create later.

If you would rather not repeat that on every new funnel, check Use on everything I create from now on in the pixel form — see how to use the same pixel on everything I create.

The registration walkthrough is in add a pixel and choose its events, and the per-screen one in how to choose which pixels track each screen.

    2. Add Google Tag Manager

GTM is still set on the funnel: enter the container ID (format GTM-XXXXXXX) under Funnel Settings → Tracking. See how to add Google Tag Manager.

Pixel and GTM coexist. Just avoid firing the same event through both — the conversion shows up twice.

    3. Standardise your UTMs

Without consistent UTMs, the ad's data never reaches the contact. Agree the convention before launching a campaign: UTMs and lead source.

    4. Validate before you spend

Publish and confirm the events actually fire: validate pixel and events. A campaign running on broken tracking spends money you cannot evaluate.

    5. Close the loop at the sale

With the three pieces live, connect spend to return in measure campaign ROI, pairing the funnel analytics with Sales.

    If it didn't work

    • No events appear at all: confirm you tested on the published page, not the preview.
    • Duplicate conversions: the same event is firing through both the Pixel and GTM.
    • The ID is rejected: GTM only accepts the GTM-XXXXXXX format.
